BioTechUSA group delivers outstanding results in the 2023 audit season
Few dietary supplement companies in the world can claim to have their own factory and logistics unit. The factories of the BioTechUSA group located in Szada and Dunakeszi enable us to manufacture unique, high-quality products and cater to our customers’ needs quickly, flexibly and in high quality. This is where most of our products are manufactured, including our powder-, capsule- and tablet-format supplements, bars and healthy lifestyle products. Our products are developed by our own 20-strong product development team, which is made up mostly of food engineers. Currently, we have a range of over 2,000 products. The factory and warehousing processes are covered by the IFS company management system. Our quality management system is overseen by a group of over 30 employees in Szada and Dunakeszi, working in close cooperation with the production team.
In order to retain our competitive edge and existing markets, we must comply with strict quality management standards year after year. Even each standard in itself imposes a lot of demands regarding the production, storage and handling of foodstuffs while covering all aspects of the entire production and logistics process including off-site activities such as transportation or retail.
Standards and their significance
ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, IFS Food, GMP. Few people are aware of the significance of these acronyms and the strict set of requirements the companies implementing these standards must comply with. Implementing an ISO 9001-compliant quality management system shows, among others, that the expectations the given entity has towards itself go far beyond the average; ISO 22000 is a food safety standard based on ISO principles, and it helps identify and control food safety risks; FSSC 22000 is a food safety certification system for food manufacturers, which is supplemented with special prerequisite requirements that, above and beyond those listed above, are applied in order to prevent major food safety hazards or reduce these hazards to an acceptable level and thus fulfill our commitment to hygiene and human health; the IFS Food certificate ensures comparability and transparency for consumers throughout the entire supply chain; and finally, the GMP system includes guidelines for good manufacturing practices.
Delivering compliance year after year
Every year, compliance with the above standards is audited by competent certification bodies, sometimes for several days on end. During each audit, auditors visit the areas to be audited at our sites in Szada and Dunakeszi, conducting interviews with our employees and collecting audit samples.
Just as they do every year, the representatives of the competent certification body conducted yet another extremely thorough audit covering all areas and details. We are greatly pleased that both production facilities of the BioTechUSA group obtained excellent ratings again. In order to achieve this, the hard work of our dedicated and highly knowledgeable colleagues was pivotal, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for performing their duties day after day in compliance with the highest level international and domestic standards”, said Diána Markovics, COO and Managing Director at the BioTechUSA group.
Ildikó Szabó, Head of Integrated Quality Management at BioTechUSA added: This outstanding audit result is not the outcome of a single day or week of work. Our units in Szada and Dunakeszi perform their activities in compliance with the guidelines defined by the standards continuously, each day of the year. This is what enables us to successfully renew our certifications year after year. I would also like to express my gratitude to the members of the Production and Logistics Departments as well as the Procurement, Product Development and Contract Manufacturing teams, who guarantee the success of each audit.
One of the key elements of our long-term strategy is that we allow no compromise in terms of quality. We will continue working in this spirit, as the food safety standards are changing, which means we need to fulfill further expectations next year.
