After FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda, another top Slovakian football club has chosen our Group. The players of MŠK Žilina — seven-time Slovakian champions and cup winners — are also preparing for competitions with BioTechUSA’s products and expertise. 

Founded in 1908 as Zsolnai Testgyakorlók Köre, the prestigious club has been a dominant force in Slovakian football for a century. They won their first Czechoslovakian championship title in 1928 and successfully defended it the following year. In 1962, the team qualified for the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup for the first time, knocking out Olympiakos on the way to reaching the quarter-finals. However, they were defeated by the defending champions, Fiorentina, in a closely contested match. 

Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993 and the establishment of the Slovak First Division League, currently known as the Nike League, Žilina’s success was paved. The team dominated throughout the 2000s, winning seven Slovak league titles. Their peak came in the 2011–12 season when they won the league title and lifted the Slovak Cup for the first time in the club’s history. Last year, they finished second in the league behind Slovan Bratislava, but with BioTechUSA on board for the season, they may now have a chance to win their eighth title. 

There is also a Hungarian connection in Žilina’s history: László Bénes, who played for the Slovak national team but was of Hungarian descent, is considered the club’s most valuable player. In 2016, Žilina sold Bénes to German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach for €5.5 million, a transfer fee that remains a record for the Slovak club.
